Description

Oncidium Tolumnia, also known as called Equitant, are small miniature fan shaped orchids from the oncidium family of Tolumnia. These arrive to us with no name and blooms are not open. When we select your plants we will not know what colors you are receiving and they might be duplicates. Once they open we are able to identify them by name but you might receive duplicates of the same color.

Tolumnia are a type of oncidium which does not have a pseudobulb for water storage. These cute little mini orchids are slow to grow, but relatively easy. However, take caution and be sure to water only in the mornings. Since they do not have a pseudobulb to retain water during dry periods, they need water regularly but MUST dry out daily. The tiny little roots will not tolerate being moist at night and will rot and die quickly (literally they can die in a just a few days). For this reason please water them in the mornings only so they will be dry by night. Additionally, these little cuties will continue to re-bloom from a previously bloomed inflorescence (bloom stem). After the blooms begin to die from your bloom stem, don't cut it off. It will most likely send out additional bloom spikes from the upper section of the old bloom spike. For potting medium, we suggest nothing! Anything to impede the roots from drying out quickly will only hinder their growth. In nature these enjoy short amounts of moisture in order to dry quickly. Either mounted, or potted with a large piece of bark. Enjoy these additional blooms for months to come.

Looks great! May 31, 2018
Reviewer: Daniel Ellis-Ferris from Fullerton, CA United States
This plant just finished flowering but has a keiki growing on one of the nodes of the old spike. It’s been grown at very high light and looks very vigorous. It’s a really large specimen for a tolumnia, and I’m very excited to see what it does!

Genting Orange April 12, 2018

Ordered one of these and it came partially in bloom, and to my surprise, it was a Genting Orange! This is a big plant and probably needs to be separated when I get the chance.

Great, healthy plants April 13, 2017
Reviewer: Sergio from New York, NY United States
Can't say much about them, very healthy plants, and large too, already split them into several pots. I ordered two and, while I won't know if they are different or not until they flower, their leaf morphology is slightly different so I believe an effort was made to send me different varieties. Very happy with my purchase.

Wow April 8, 2017
Reviewer: Stashu from Hollister, CA United States
These Tolumnia were "we got these, we don't even know what colors they are".  I got 4 of these, expected 1 or 2 plantlets.  Wow, each pot came full with big healthy plants with good roots.  What a great deal!  Now the wait begins to see them bloom.
