So, I unwrap my plant and see not just a bulb that's 4 1/2" inches tall and two really small bulbs just above the spaghnum moss. There are also four growths with roots, (two on each side), towards the top of the bulb, and two flower spikes. I did notice two tiny petals that had fallen off, but that's okay. I've been trying to find out as much as much as possible about the Catasetinae/Clowesia orchids, but never expected this. There's a stake which helped it stand upright...I gave the bulb a bit of a tug, nothing gives, so I'm not going to try and find out what's going on in the pot.
I've got my work cut out for me especially since Seattle Orchids produced a bulb like this. Totally beyond my expectations especially after watching so many videos in which no bulbs looked like this one. Fascinating!
